Ksenija Butenko Cerne, Member of the Board of Management

After graduating from the Faculty of Law at the University of Ljubljana in April 1987, Ksenija Butenko Cerne, LL.B. took a job with the Gradis Law Offices in May 1987. In 1991 she was hired by the Slikoplesk company as the Director of the Legal and Human Resources division.

After passing the State Bar Exam in October 1993, she began working at Lek d.d. at the beginning of 1994. Since then she has been working in the legal field, mainly concentrating on international business, status and regulatory issues, as well as industrial property law.

Since 2001 she has been the Executive Director of the Legal Affairs department. After Lek became a member of the Novartis/Sandoz business group and a legal function was formed within Sandoz, she took on the responsibility for global legal support in the region of Central and Eastern Europe and at the beginning of 2005 was also appointed as Sandoz’s Lead Legal Counsel for the Central and Eastern Europe region.

On July 6, 2005 the Supervisory Board appointed her to the position of Member of the Board of Management of Lek d.d. She took over the responsibility for managing and ensuring the legal harmonization of the operations of the company with relevant local and EU legislation and for the operations of the company as a good corporate citizen, a member of the Novartis/Sandoz group.

August 1, 2007, Ksenija was reappointed as a Member of the Board of Management of Lek d.d.
