Bio Career Breakfast at Lek's Biopharmaceuticals Mengeš creates opportunities for Slovenian experts at home

  • For the second time in a row, Lek's business unit Biopharmaceuticals Mengeš has invited Slovenian natural science experts working or studying abroad, to an event presenting excellent career opportunities in the home environment. 
  • Bio Career Breakfast is Lek's response to the modern migration trend among the highly educated workforce and an example of Lek's initiative to create a stimulating work environment for the top Slovenian experts. 
  • In 2016, Lek employed 10 Slovenian experts who participated in the first Bio Career Breakfast last January, thus retaining domestic knowledge and talents in Slovenia.

For the second year in a row, Lek's business unit Biopharmaceuticals Mengeš has organised Bio Career Breakfast, an event, to which highly educated Slovenian natural science experts working or studying abroad, were invited. More than 70 Slovenian experts attended the event, organised by Lek's Biopharmaceuticals Mengeš in collaboration with the Slovene Human Resources and Scholarship Fund and the Association of Slovenes Educated Abroad (VTIS).

Lek has made the creation of a stimulating work environment an important part of their operation and despite the harsh conditions on the market, they have been continuously recruiting new associates in recent years; last year they launched an innovative initiative, aimed at Slovenian natural science experts working abroad, to return to their home environment.

Biopharmaceuticals is namely the fastest growing branch of the pharmaceutical industry and offers many career opportunities for professionals, especially pharmacists, chemists, biotechnologists, microbiologists and biochemists.

The response to the event was excellent, with more than 70 people attending. In 2016, Lek employed 10 Slovenian experts who participated in the first Bio Career Breakfast in January last year, thus retaining domestic knowledge and talents in Slovenia.
