Vojmir Urlep

Vojmir Urlep, President of the Board of Management
After graduating from the Faculty of Pharmacy in Ljubljana he began his career in Salus, but as early as 1983 came to Lek to work in the foreign trade department. In 15 years at Lek he held many challenging positions in export, marketing and sales, and was Director of Lek's representative office in Moscow, Managing Director of Lek Zagreb, as well as a member of the Board of Management and President of the Board of Management of Lek. During this period he received Master's degree in international management from the Faculty of Economics and Business in Maribor.

In 2000 he became president of the Board of Management in Kemofarmacija d.d. and successfully led it in an increasingly competitive environment. He effectively integrated the company into Celesio AG, Europe's largest pharmaceutical wholesaler. Vojmir Urlep was for many years member of the Board of Governors of the Jozef Stefan Institute, was a member of the Board of the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the executive board of the GIRP (European Association of Pharmaceutical Wholesalers), is a member of the assembly of the Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia, and guest lecturer in marketing at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Ljubljana.

During his career, Vojmir Urlep has gained knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry as well as the pharmaceutical wholesalers business. With continuous education and training at home and abroad he took care of his personal development in his field of work, as well as in management. With his daily presence in the international environment and familiarity with global business he has gained valuable experiences and knowledge, which he strengthened by working in one of Europe's largest companies and confirmed with the successful integration of Kemofarmacija into this international business system.

Zvonko Bogdanovski

Zvonko Bogdanovski, Member of the Board of Management
Zvonko graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy in Ljubljana in 1983 and began his career in Lek as a researcher, analyst and research technologist, after which he spent the majority of his career in pharmaceutical marketing and sales management. He holds an MBA from IEDC Business School at Bled, Slovenia.

After assuming his first position in research and development 25 years ago, he became deputy head of the Lek foreign trade department in 1990, and was appointed head of pharmaceuticals sales in Central and Eastern Europe in 1993, in the period when Lek began to intensify marketing and sales of its products outside Slovenia. In this interesting and dynamic period through 1999, when he became head of pharmaceuticals sales, he and his colleagues developed the sales network that today still forms the basis of Sandoz sales in Central and Eastern Europe and the CIS.

Following the Novartis acquisition of Lek, and subsequently Hexal, he was deeply involved in the integration process, and succeeded together with his team in leading Sandoz to a market leading position in the markets he headed. In the cluster CEE I, for which he was responsible until the end of 2008, he further strengthened the leading Sandoz position.

In 2009, he became Country Head Slovenia as part of a wider structural reorganization within Sandoz, following which he is also responsible for the South Eastern Europe country grouping (Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia).

Darija Brecevic

Darija Brecevic, Member of the Board of Management
Darija Brecevic graduated in Psychology (B.A.) from the University of Ljubljana in 1996. She began her career at Lek.

From 1996 to 2000 she worked in Human Resources, and was responsible for implementing HR processes, special tasks in the area of recruitment and selection (testing), implementing performance appraisals, assessment of talent and leadership skills development.

In 2000 she took a job with Johnson & Johnson S.E., the Slovenian affiliate of J&J, where during her first year she was a Human Resources Specialist (Medical Devices & Diagnostics). Until 2006 she was a Human Resources Manager (Medical Devices & Diagnostics), responsible for designing and implementing HR strategy and processes in the company (recruitment, training, compensation, health & safety at work, counselling, company surveys, performance management system, innovation initiative, HRIS etc.) for the South Eastern Europe region. She supported and implemented regional/corporate projects and initiatives (e.g. Global HR Transformation Project), managing a small HR team of 3 people. She was responsible for providing shared service HR to other sectors (pharmaceuticals, consumer), covering 6 countries in the region.

Darija joined Lek, a Sandoz company, in December 2006 as Head HR for Technical Operations for Slovenia & Romania, in April 2007 she was appointed Head HR Slovenia, and on August 1 2007 she was appointed as Member of the Lek Board of Management.

Ksenija Butenko Cerne

Ksenija Butenko Cerne, Member of the Board of Management
After graduating from the Faculty of Law at the University of Ljubljana in April 1987, Ksenija Butenko Cerne, LL.B. took a job with the Gradis Law Offices in May 1987. In 1991 she was hired by the Slikoplesk company as the Director of the Legal and Human Resources division.

After passing the State Bar Exam in October 1993, she began working at Lek d.d. at the beginning of 1994. Since then she has been working in the legal field, mainly concentrating on international business, status and regulatory issues, as well as industrial property law.

Since 2001 she has been the Executive Director of the Legal Affairs department. After Lek became a member of the Novartis/Sandoz business group and a legal function was formed within Sandoz, she took on the responsibility for global legal support in the region of Central and Eastern Europe and at the beginning of 2005 was also appointed as Sandoz's Lead Legal Counsel for the Central and Eastern Europe region.

On July 6, 2005 the Supervisory Board appointed her to the position of Member of the Board of Management of Lek d.d. She took over the responsibility for managing and ensuring the legal harmonization of the operations of the company with relevant local and EU legislation and for the operations of the company as a good corporate citizen, a member of the Novartis/Sandoz group.

August 1, 2007, Ksenija was reappointed as a Member of the Board of Management of Lek d.d.

Markus Delfosse

Markus Delfosse, Member of the Board of Management
Markus began his career in 1989 with IKEA in Switzerland as a Controller in Purchasing and a Credit Manager for Central and Eastern Europe. In 1992, he moved into Project Management with IKEA Russia.

He joined Novartis in 1995 as Head Finance and Administration in Russia. He was Head Emerging Markets in Pharma Finance in 1999 and Head Decision Making Support in Global Technical Operations in Finance in 2000 before being appointed Head Finance in Global Technical Operations in December 2000 for Novartis Pharma. In this role, Markus was responsible for overseeing various ongoing finance-related projects, the Technical Operations Finance strategy, controlling, budgeting, investment review processes and general management within Finance.

On April 1, 2005 Markus was appointed Head of Global Technical Operations at Sandoz. In this role, he was instrumental in building a global TechOps function at Sandoz, and managing the network coordination project with the merger of Hexal.

In June 2007 Markus was appointed Head of Technical Operations for Ljubljana and will supervise pharmaceutical operations for all finished dosage form (FDF) sites in Slovenia, including Ljubljana, Lendava and Prevalje. In these roles, he will coordinate all site activities ensuring alignment across Engineering, Supply Chain Management and Health, Safety & Environment. In addition, Markus will supervise TechOps for Poland and Romania, and work on key strategic projects involving expanding our manufacturing and packaging operations in Eastern Europe.

August 1, 2007, he was appointed member of the Lek Board of Management.

Markus has experience in general management, project management, finance, controlling, credit management and crisis management. He is a Swiss citizen and has a degree in Business Administration from the University of St. Gallen.

Bojan Dolenc

Bojan Dolenc, Member of the Board of Management, Workers' Director
Bojan graduated at the Faculty of Natural Sciences in Ljubljana with a degree in Pharmacy. He broadened his knowledge and management skills at the IEDC School of Management in Bled, where he completed a course in management, and at one of the world's leading business schools, IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland.

His career at Lek began in 1984, when he worked as a researcher for one year, and in the next year he became Head of Packaging Development. His major achievements in this area include the reorganization of the department, reengineering of processes and the introduction of advanced information solutions in support of the process. In 1991 and 1992 he was Head of Logistics at Lek.

Bojan also has international experience, having worked as a site head in Poland (1992 to 1994), where he managed the construction of a distribution center and the startup of a new packaging plant in the town of Pruszkow near Warsaw.

In 1995 he became Head of the Lek Production Plant in Prevalje, where he oversaw the construction of a new penicillin products factory. Between 1996 and 2002 he was Head of Production at the Ljubljana site, where he made a significant contribution to the successful launching of Lek's first drugs for the US market, and was one of the keys to the success of the Omeprazole project in the US and on other markets.

From 2002 to 2006 he returned to Poland, where he worked on the integration of the Polish company Argon (acquired by Lek in 2001) into the Lek organization. He was in charge of the integration of Lek and Hexal's production in Poland into Sandoz global production network.

Bojan was in charge of the construction of the new production/logistics plant in Strykow, Poland, an investment valued at EUR 70 million, and served as its first director after its opening in 2004.

Since November 2006 he has worked as the Head of Oral Solids Production in Ljubljana.

On June 1, 2009 Bojan was appointed Head of the Lek Site in Prevalje.

Since July 7, 2009 he has been a member of the Lek Board of Management and a Workers' Director.

Daniel Karrer

Daniel Karrer, Member of the Board of Management
Daniel joined the Novartis Group in 1991 and has been working in Finance functions with increasing responsibility in different divisions and countries within the Group since then.

He started his carreer as Head of Divisional Reporting for the Pharma Division in Basel. At the end of 1996 he took over the responsibility as a Finance Director and Novartis Country CFO in Chile. In 1999, he returned to Basel and served as Manager of the Financial Processes Improvement Project. Thereafter he assumed the position of Finance Director and Novartis Country CFO in Indonesia until December 2002. From 2002 to 2005 he was Head of Finance Global IT at Novartis International in Basel. In 2006 he moved to the Sandoz Division and took over the role as Regional CFO for Latin America, Canada and Turkey, located in Holzkirchen. A Swiss national, Daniel holds a masters degree in Economics and Business Administration from the University in Basel.
