The Women of Lek make a charitable donation
On the occasion of the 1999 International Women’s Day the women members of Lek’s Trade Union decided to forego their annual symbolic presentation of gifts and agreed to donate the funds allocated for this purpose to the Maternal Home in Ljubljana and to the Slovene Association for the Help of the Needy.
At a brief cultural performance, the donation was accepted from the President of Lek’s Trade Union Lilijana Erženičnik by Dana Batič, Director of the Maternal Home, and by Barbara Brecelj, President of the Association for the Help of the Needy for their confidential telephone.
“We wished to demonstrate how we implement Lek’s mission in real life, and thus contribute to a better quality of life. For this we chose 8th March, the Women’s Day, since we believe that despite their declared equality, women still find themselves in an inferior position compared to men", said Lilijana Erženičnik at the event.
Lek’s contribution to the Maternal Home is the first step in the fund raising effort to collect funds for the purchase of a new flat, which is badly needed by the Home. The Association for the Help of the Needy will make good use of the donation in their further work, by helping people to meet their basic need.
